“The hotel's Victorian bones give it a particular charm, and its position near Bournemouth Pier makes exploring easy. I especially like that some rooms have balconies oriented to catch the sea views; a real treat. Family-friendly without sacrificing elegance, it strikes a nice balance, with good dining options, including child-friendly ones, on site.”

Review summary

Powered by AI
The Bournemouth Carlton Hotel By Sunday is frequently praised for its location right on the beach front, often providing access to a quieter area than the pier, yet still remaining conveniently close to it; many guests enjoy rooms that are very spacious and some are upgraded to rooms boasting sea views and balconies. Guests commonly appreciate the wide selection of food available at the breakfast buffet. While some guests have noted that the family rooms can appear outdated, the indoor heated swimming pool is a hit, especially with children.

the staff were very efficient. food was very good. i thought the suite was very spacious. it had a lovely view of the coast line.
the car park was over priced. it is cheaper to park right outside by the road. the outside pool was unheated. the jacuzzi and sauna were out of action. the changing rooms were disappointing.

the staff were polite enough and always happy to help. it was okay, i guess.
the room i had was nothing special. it was so small. the bathroom was pretty outdated too, i mean, seriously, the showerhead barely worked. it reminded me of stepping back into the '90s, and not in a good way.

Mixed feelings about the stay

good locationlack of viewpeeling wallpaper
The location was good. It was right across from the beach.
Our balcony offered no view When seated because of a wall. I felt ripped off. The room was also dated with wallpaper peeling off.

Great Coastal Hotel

great locationhelpful staffbreakfast choiceunclear parking
The location is perfect I was so close to the beach and town centre. The staff was very helpful all the time. I enjoyed having breakfast with amazing sea views. They provided a good choice of menu items.
The parking was a bit unclear when I arrived I eventually managed to figure it out. More signs would be very helpful though.
